CONSIDER THIS NOT THAT

"And being not weak in faith, he considered not his own body now dead, when he was about an hundred years old, neither yet the deadness of Sara's womb:  He staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief; but was strong in faith, giving glory to God; And being fully persuaded that, what he had promised, he was able also to perform."  Romans 4 :19-21

Abraham considered not (thought about, meditated on) what he saw in his body or his wife's body, but considered the promise of God.  Do you want to see more miracles in your life?  Then consider God's promises and consider not your problems.  Think about and meditate on God's promises and not on your circumstances.

There is only one other place in the Bible where someone, actually someones, considered not.  In Mark 6:45, after Jesus fed the 5,000, He told the disciples to get into the ship and cross over to Bethsaida, while He sent the people away.

After Jesus sent the people away and spent some time in prayer, He saw the disciples in the middle of the sea.  The wind was blowing against them and they were rowing hard.  Jesus walked on the water towards them, but when they saw Him they were afraid because they thought He was a ghost.  Now here is where you need to really stop and put on your thinking cap, because this is where it's gets bumpy.  The Bible says in Mark 6:51-52, the disciples "were sore amazed in themselves beyond measure, and wondered.  For they considered not the miracle of the loaves:  for their heart was hardened."  Their heart was hardened because they considered not the miracle of the loaves.  Our hearts will harden if we consider not God's promises and only consider our circumstances.  Ponder this for a moment.  Hardened hearts are not just rebellious hearts.  Hardened hearts are hearts full of unbelief.  Faith comes by hearing God's Word which is full of His promises.   Consider God's promises and not your problems.  Meditate on God's promises and not your circumstances.  Think about God's promises and not how you feel.

Here is something to think about.  You can explain the natural.  You can figure out the natural.  But the supernatural you cannot explain or figure out.  So don't consider your problems.  Don't consider your circumstances.  Don't consider how you feel.  Find a promise from God that covers your problem.  Find a promise from God which comforts you.  Consider God's promises which cannot be explained because they are supernatural.  Do you want more miracles in your life?  Then meditate on God's promises and not on your circumstances and remember, miracles are supernatural.

"While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal."  2 Corinthians 4:18

STRONGHOLDS

"For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh: (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;) Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ." 2 Corinthians 10:3-5

I have heard many Christians who have a certain trouble in their life say they believe God is punishing them for something they did in their past. This is what the Bible calls a stronghold in your mind. As a man thinks, so is he. If you believe God is punishing you, you will live your life with this belief in your soul and your soul will suffer because of it. You will never believe God will use your life for great things, because how can he if he is punishing you. You will never believe how much God loves you, because how can he if he is punishing you. Do you see the suffering your soul goes through with this type of wrong thinking?

I would say most of the time the trouble in a Christian's life that they believe is there because they are being punished for something in their past is one their children. Either their child is sickly or has put them through a lot of trouble. This is a stronghold in your mind and it needs to be torn down. In John 9, the disciples asked Jesus about a man that was born blind. They asked, "Who did sin, this man, or his parents, that he was born blind?" And Jesus answered, "Neither hath this man sinned, nor his parents: but that the works of God should be made manifest in him." Your child is sickly or is a lot of trouble for you not because of something you did in your past, but so God can use your child to work in your life. He will use your child in your life to get you to see you cannot do it without Him. Your child will bring out weaknesses in you that you did not know you had and when you bring those weaknesses to God, He adds His strength and you will see mighty works, in not only your child's life, but also in yours.

In the Old Testament, King David lost his first born son because of his past sins, but in the New Testament, God gave up, not only His first born Son, but His only Beloved Son, so that you would not be punished or condemned ever again. God nailed all of your sins to the cross and said He would never remember your sins anymore.

The only way you can get rid of a stronghold in your mind is with truth. The truth is God loves you so much that He gave up His only begotten Son for you. The truth is God has only good in store for you. The truth is God will never remember any of your sins ever again. The truth is God has a purpose for you.  He wants to do great and mighty works through your life.  The truth is God highly favors you and His favor surrounds you like a shield. The truth is because of Jesus, you can come boldly to God's throne asking or telling Him anything, and He will incline His ear to you. Tell yourself these truths every day until you are free from any stronghold in your mind.

"But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chasetisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed." Isaiah
53:5

TRUE PEACE

Are you always trying to make your surroundings peaceful?  Are you wanting rest outside of you?

Here is something to think about.  God wants you to be at rest in the inside.  When all things are going well in your life and you are at peace inside, that is not true peace.  True peace is when all hell is surrounding you and you still are at rest in your soul.  This is the peace God wants you to have, but it doesn't come naturally.  You have to practice it by pursuing it and by laboring to stay in it.

You pursue peace by the choices you make.  If God tells you not to say something or not to do something and you obey him, you have chosen peace.

You labor to enter into his rest by choosing to keep your mind on Jesus instead of keeping your mind on the turmoil around you.  It is a labor at first because you are not used to it, but eventually it will be a new habit.  Eventually you will automatically choose to ignore the turmoil in your mind or around you, and start immediately thinking about Jesus.

Here are some things to think about instead of thinking about the turmoil around you.  The God of the universe is living inside of you.  His Spirit, who raised Jesus from the dead, is living inside of you.  There is nothing too hard for him.  He freely gives you all things.  He loves you like no one else in this world.  He favors you.  He longs for you.

Something I do which really helps keep my mind on Jesus is every time I read a verse that brings joy to my soul, I write it on a 3x5 card and put it in my purse, so I always have my go to verses near me.

God wants you to get this.  He wants you to rest in it.  He wants you to remain calm and restful on the inside.  He does not want you to worry or be anxious.  When you worry or are anxious, you are not trusting him.  You are not believing him.  The Bible says unbelief is disobedience.

When you have rest inside of you, it doesn't matter what is going on around you, you will remain at rest.

Fresh Revelation

When I read God's Word (logos), I am always looking for fresh revelation (rhema) from God. He doesn't always give fresh revelation to me every time I read his Word, but when he does, I never forget it.  Yesterday as I was reading in Ephesians, he gave me fresh revelation for Ephesians 6:16.  I wanted to share this with you, so you see how God does this.  While you are reading God's Word, pay attention to what verse jumps out at you.  Meditate on that verse.  Ask God questions about that verse.  And then watch and listen for your answer.  You will soon learn how God answers you, and the more he answers you, the more you will want to hear from him!

Here is my fresh revelation from God regarding Ephesians 6:16:

While I was reading Ephesians 6 yesterday, verse 16 jumped out at me.  "Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked."  I kept reading but that verse drew me back.  In fact, I read several times and even said it out loud.  I thought to myself, "How can this be."  The verse says our shield of faith will quench ALL the fiery darts of the enemy, but I don't see this happening.  Most Christians are being taunted by these fiery darts from the enemy.  I then asked God to explain this to me.  I asked him, "What am I not seeing?"  I love it when God answers me right away. This doesn't happen all the time, but I cherish his immediate answers in my spirit.  What it feels like is he just drops the answer as a whole paragraph into my spirit. Here is what God put into my spirit:   The shield of faith is not just having Jesus as your Savior.  It is believing Jesus loves you unconditionally every moment.  It is believing he accepts and loves you just the way you are right now.  It is believing you are the righteousness of God in Christ no matter what you just did or what you just thought.  So every time you feel unworthy, unloved, or undeserving, you have in a sense put down your shield of faith.  You are at that moment no longer protected.

I also love it when God confirms his answer to me through other means.  Later that day, I was looking at Facebook and saw the picture below.  Then today as I was reading Psalm 78, verse 22 jumped out at me as another confirmation of this truth.  "Because they believed not in God and trusted not in his salvation."  And then to top it all off, I was looking at my journal today and at the top it said this, "Do you know the enemy cannot touch your spirit if you have Jesus, but he can touch the parts of your soul that is not resting in Jesus."

This is how God gives you fresh revelation (rhema) from his Word (logos) while you are reading, studying, and meditating on his Word. He loves it when you talk to him about his Word.  He loves it when you ask him questions about his Word.

2 Corinthians 3:18

The best way to get revelation from God's Word is to meditate on them.  I decided to meditate on 2 Corinthians 3:18 during my lunch walk today.  Here is what the Lord gave me about this verse:

"But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord."  2 Corinthians 3:18

When I got to "open face," immediately the Lord told me that open face is being totally yourself, not shy, not full of pride, not trying to impress, just being open.  Being open is also knowing you are unworthy in yourself, but worthy in Christ.  It is knowing who you are in Christ.  In other words, wearing your cloak of humility over your robe of righteousness.

When I got to "beholding," the Lord told me when you behold someone or something, you stare at it in total awe.  You can't keep your eyes from it.  God wants you to behold the glory of the Lord, to behold his beauty, his mercy, his lovingkindness, his patience, his love, his holiness.  God wants you to be in awe of his Son.

"As in a glass" means when you are beholding the Lord's glory, you need to see you, because 1 John 4:17, says, as he is, so are we in this world.  You are in Christ, so everything he is, you are.  Everything he has, you have.

"Are changed into the same image from glory to glory" means as you are seeing you as Jesus is, you are being changed into what you are seeing one glory at a time.  As you behold how loving Jesus is, you are being changed into a loving person.  As you behold how merciful Jesus is, you are being changed into a merciful person.

"Even as by the Spirit of the Lord" - I love this!  It's the Lord's Spirit that changes you!  It's not you!  And all you have to do is behold Jesus and all that he is, and see yourself the same way.  You were made in his image!

HOW DO YOU GET THIRSTY FOR GOD AND HIS WORD?

"O God, thou art my God; early will I see thee:  my soul thirsteth for thee, my flesh longeth for thee in a dry and thirsty land, where no water is; to see thy power and thy glory, so as I have seen thee in the sanctuary.  Because thy lovingkindness is better than life, my lips shall praise thee.  Thus will I bless thee while I live:  I will lift up my hands in thy name.  My soul shall be satisfied as with marrow and fatness; and my mouth shall praise thee with joyful lips:  When I remember thee upon my bed, and meditate on thee in the night watches.  Because thou hast been my help, therefore in the shadow of thy wings will I rejoice.  My soul followeth hard after thee:  thy right hand upholdeth me."  Psalm 63:1-8

Are you wondering how you get thirsty for God and his Word?  Are you going through a time where you don't know what to say to God?  Are you wondering when you are going to understand what you are reading in God's Word?

Don't wonder anymore.  Just keep talking to God.  Keep asking him questions.  Keep giving him your cares.  Keep thanking him.  Keep praising him.  Keep praying for yourself and others.  God wants to know if you really want to get to know him or if you are just putting in your time or just going through the motions.  God doesn't reveal himself to just anybody.  He reveals himself to those who earnestly seek him.

"But if from thence thou shalt seek the LORD thy God, thou shalt find him, if thou seek him with all thy heart and with all thy soul."  Deuteronomy 4:29

Draw nigh unto God and he will draw nigh to you.  Read his Word as if you were searching for hidden treasure and God will show you things you have never seen before.  Praise him for his goodness and for who he is.

"The secret of the LORD is with them that fear him; and he will show them his covenant."  Psalm 25:14

Fearing God is having a reverential awe of him.  To fear God is to honor and praise him for who he is, our Creator, our Father, our Savior.

Keep talking to God.  Keep reading his Word, because once you hear his voice in your spirit and his Word starts coming alive in your life, you will become thirsty for more of him.

Day 19: ONE YEAR THROUGH THE BIBLE

DAY 19

"When we sing, 'draw me near, nearer, blessed Lord,' we are not thinking of the nearness of place, but of the nearness of relationship.  It is for increasing degrees of awareness that we pray, for a more perfect consciousness of the divine Presence.  We need never shout across the spaces to an absent God.  He is nearer than our own soul, closer than our most secret thoughts."
- A.W. Tozer

Day 18: ONE YEAR THROUGH THE BIBLE

DAY 18

"It is clear that there must be difficulties for us in a revelation such as the Bible.  If someone were to hand me a book that was as simple to me as the multiplication table, and say, 'This is the Word of God.  In it He has revealed His whole will and wisdom,' I would shake my head and say, 'I cannot believe it; that is too easy to be a perfect revelation of infinite wisdom.'  There must be, in any complete revelation of God's mind and will and character and being, things hard for the beginner to understand; and the wisest and best of us are but beginners."
- R.A. Torrey

GOD LOVES YOU

Romans 8:38-39
For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

SING TO THE LORD

Psalm 23:6
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life
and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever more.

Forever, hallelujah.  Forever praising the Lord.
Forever, hallelujah.  Forever, Amen.

 PRAISE THE LORD

Psalm 113:1-3
Praise ye the LORD.  Praise, o ye servants of the LORD, praise the name of the LORD.  Blessed be the name of the LORD from this time forth and for evermore.  From the rising of the sun unto the going down of the same the LORD's name is to be praised.

THANK THE LORD

Ezra 3:11
And they sang together by course in praising and giving thanks unto the LORD; because he is good, for his mercy endureth for ever toward Israel.  And all the people shouted with a great shout, when they praised the LORD, because the foundation of the house of the LORD was laid.

PRAY TO THE LORD

Matthew 21:21-22

MEDITATE ON THE WORD

Lamentations 3:22-25
It is of the LORD's mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not.  They are new every morning:  great is thy faithfulness.  The LORD is my portion, saith my soul; therefore will I hope in him.  The LORD is good unto them that wait for him, to the soul that seeketh him.

GOD LOVES YOU

1 John 4:16-19
And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us.  God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him.  Herein is our love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment:  because as he is, so are we in this world.  There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear:  because fear hath torment.  He that feareth is not made perfect in love.  We love him, because he first loved us.

SING TO THE LORD

Exodus 3:12
Certainly I will be with thee
I will be with thee
and this shall be a sign to thee
that I have sent thee

I have sent thee, yes, I have sent thee to set my people free,
I have sent thee, yes, I have sent thee to set my people free.

When you have brought forth the people of bondage,
I will be with thee.
