Fresh Revelation

When I read God's Word (logos), I am always looking for fresh revelation (rhema) from God. He doesn't always give fresh revelation to me every time I read his Word, but when he does, I never forget it.  Yesterday as I was reading in Ephesians, he gave me fresh revelation for Ephesians 6:16.  I wanted to share this with you, so you see how God does this.  While you are reading God's Word, pay attention to what verse jumps out at you.  Meditate on that verse.  Ask God questions about that verse.  And then watch and listen for your answer.  You will soon learn how God answers you, and the more he answers you, the more you will want to hear from him!

Here is my fresh revelation from God regarding Ephesians 6:16:

While I was reading Ephesians 6 yesterday, verse 16 jumped out at me.  "Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked."  I kept reading but that verse drew me back.  In fact, I read several times and even said it out loud.  I thought to myself, "How can this be."  The verse says our shield of faith will quench ALL the fiery darts of the enemy, but I don't see this happening.  Most Christians are being taunted by these fiery darts from the enemy.  I then asked God to explain this to me.  I asked him, "What am I not seeing?"  I love it when God answers me right away. This doesn't happen all the time, but I cherish his immediate answers in my spirit.  What it feels like is he just drops the answer as a whole paragraph into my spirit. Here is what God put into my spirit:   The shield of faith is not just having Jesus as your Savior.  It is believing Jesus loves you unconditionally every moment.  It is believing he accepts and loves you just the way you are right now.  It is believing you are the righteousness of God in Christ no matter what you just did or what you just thought.  So every time you feel unworthy, unloved, or undeserving, you have in a sense put down your shield of faith.  You are at that moment no longer protected.

I also love it when God confirms his answer to me through other means.  Later that day, I was looking at Facebook and saw the picture below.  Then today as I was reading Psalm 78, verse 22 jumped out at me as another confirmation of this truth.  "Because they believed not in God and trusted not in his salvation."  And then to top it all off, I was looking at my journal today and at the top it said this, "Do you know the enemy cannot touch your spirit if you have Jesus, but he can touch the parts of your soul that is not resting in Jesus."

This is how God gives you fresh revelation (rhema) from his Word (logos) while you are reading, studying, and meditating on his Word. He loves it when you talk to him about his Word.  He loves it when you ask him questions about his Word.
